Ep 108 - Rhett's Spiritual Deconstruction Becomes Racist

Rhett McLaughlin of "Rhett and Link" and the extremely popular "Good Mythical Morning" YouTube series was a Christian for many years and even worked in ministry, but in 2020 went public that he is no longer a Christian. Now in 2021, Rhett reflects on his decision to leave Christianity and in this reflection goes on the offensive against "White Evangelicals". The Church Split responds to some of his radical claims like "Racism has a very comfortable home in the white evangelical church” and “The church demonstrated that it has a spurious relationship with justice”.

Ep 109 - The history of Augustine and Pelagius and their impact on Original Sin and more!

Idol Killer is a YouTube channel run by Warren McGrew with mission of taring down the "sacred cows" of the church. A mutual listener of the Church Split and Idol Killer put us in touch with one another which led to this interview. We get into some topics that have split churches and we talk about their historic and doctrinal foundations including: Original Sin, Total Depravity, Penal Substitution, and the Problem of Evil. Warren shows the depth of research he has done on these subjects. This is definitely an echo-chamber-escaping episode!

Ep 106 - STOP Using the phrase: "Its not a sin, but Christians shouldn't do it"

We dive into one of Will's greatest Christian pet-peeves, the moral contradiction created when someone says there is something a Christian "shouldn't do" while also claiming that something isn't a sin. We jump into Matthew 5, 1 Corinthians 14, Romans 14, and Proverbs 11 to help us decipher this common Christian cliche. If this also drives you nuts, hopefully this gives you a good framework on how to respond to those that use it. If you do use this phrase, well.... trigger warning.

The Church Split brings on a rising star Daniel in the Christian Apologetics realm. We discuss apologetics, evangelism, and the gospel. Daniel just started his channel last year and already has more than 2000 subscribers. He is cited often by Trinity Radio and Braxton Hunter.

Ep 104 - Interview with Angel Wilson Discussing Progressive Christianity and his Involvement with Jubilee

In our response video of the Jubilee "Progressive Christians vs. Conservative Christians" we were very impressed with the approach of Angel Wilson, one of the conservative Christians. He kept bringing Bible when asked questions, applied correct Biblical context, and approached each issue with love and compassion. We invite Angel on the channel to talk about that experience and his proclamation from the video that he has tendencies towards same-sex attraction, but holds his identity in Christ and not in his tendencies.

Ep 103 - The Church Split Joins the RFP Network

This was announced last week on the RFP Wednesday show so while the cat might be out of the bag on the announcement, we wanted to discuss what the RFP Network is. We discuss what this means for our channel/content/social media/etc. We identify what it means to both recover from Fundamentalism and how to recover fundamentalism for Christianity and God's truth.  We also discuss echo chambers and how we feel this move will exemplify what we talk about all the time, how to challenge yourself with different ideas, how to escape an echo chamber if you are in one, and how to live in accordance with the truth of God's word.

Ep 102 - Discerning between your feelings and God

One was to really twist the word of God is to elevate your feelings to that of God's word. What do we mean by that? When you hear someone say "God told me to have an abortion". If you feel God is telling you to do something or leading you in a way, we give you the steps in this episode how to discern between a true prompting of the Holy Spirit and just your feelings.

Ep 83 - Rebuttal to IFB Pastor Reeves - Principles, Convictions, Standards, and Preferences

Pastor Bill Reeves of North Platte Baptist Church and Great Plains Baptist College in Nebraska was our number one request to do a rebuttal video on. Pastor Reeves is an IFB pastor and does a podcast/radio show called "The Brook" on YouTube. The topic of the rebuttal is their definitions of Principles, Convictions, Standards, and Preferences. If you aren't paying attention, what they are saying sounds ok. But once you listen to them discussing it while looking back at their original definitions you will see a bait and switch occur. These concepts become the basis for much of the extra-biblical manipulation in the IFB church.

RZIM released a new statement and the Report on Sexual Misconduct of Ravi Zacharias from Miller and Martin. The evidence they found is unbelievable and truly characteristic of someone living a double-life. We address comments made about our first video on this topics, how to address this as Christians, and how to move forward.
