Ep 144 - Preacher Boys Podcast Host Eric Skwarczynski Resigns the Faith

A friend of the show and fellow podcaster Eric Skwarczynski announced last week that he is no longer a Christian. Eric's podcast, Preacher Boys, seeks to expose sexual abuse in the IFB church. He has been extremely successful championing the moral duty of believers to remove abusers from the church and to care for the abused. Will has been on the Preacher Boys podcast and Eric has been on The Church Split. That's one reason why this news was extremely disheartening. We have covered many Christian influencers who have walked away from the faith and we felt compelled to be consistent in our rhetoric and do another one, even though this one hits closer to home. This episode is directed at our listeners, Preacher Boys listeners, and future listeners of any IFB related podcasts.

Ep 141 - Setting the Stage for Apologetics and Doctrine through Genesis 1

As part of the new direction of the channel, Will and Brian set the stage for much of the apologetics and deep doctrine dives they have planned. Where better to set the stage than the beginning, Genesis? We defend what we believe as far as the creation account, go through the entirety of Genesis chapter 1, go over the Kalam Cosmological Argument and how it fits into Genesis 1, arguments against evolution/Gap theory/old earth/atheism. We also take a rabbit trail regarding epigenetics.

Will guest preached at Dorr Baptist today and went in depth into Matthew 6 and the Lord's Prayer.

Ep 140 - Interview with Vincent about Missions

Will interviews a missionary about the current state of missions in the world, why proper doctrine and apologetics are needed for today's missionaries and how the church may hurt its missions goals. Vincent talks about loosing much of his missionary support for simply researching other doctrines to understand them better.

Ep 139 - A Biblical Approach to Modesty [LIVE]

Will and Brian tackle the tough topic of Christian Modesty. We examine the extremes on both sides of this topic and show both ends of the spectrum are using clothing and dress standards (or lack thereof) to focus on the self and feigning godliness through self display. We examine a number of verses to see what the Bible really says about modesty. Please listen as we attempt to re-center this topic on the truth and a focus on the heart.

Dr. James White of Alpha & Omega Ministries, host of The Dividing Line podcast, and author of The King James Only Controversy comes on The Church Split to discuss King James only and the textual history of the Bible. Will and Brian have been huge fans of Dr. White's work for years including his debates against Unitarians, Progressive Christians, Atheists, Mormons, Muslims, Jehovah's Witnesses, and others. His book, The King James Only Controversy, has helped many, including Will Hess himself escape the legalistic doctrine of King James Onlyism. We ask Dr. White some of our own questions as well as questions from followers of The Church Split.

 

Ep 134 - Worship Music Controversy and Legalism: REFUTED

One of our most requested topics, Will dives into the controversies over music in Christian culture. This episode attempts to respond to all common music objections from timing, to syncopation, to instruments, to origin, to lyrics, and more. Will also breaks out some of his instruments for some of his examples.

Ep 136 - KJVO Debate Response

Cody Zorn hosted Nathan Cravatt of the RFP and Mitch Canupp to debate on King James Onlyism. It was such a bad debate (format, questions, and the pro-KVJO side) that we felt it needed a response. This is a response to the debate as a whole and specifically the arguments made by Mitch Canupp on the pro-KVJO side. Nathan did a great job and we didn't replay any of his arguments due to mostly the style of the debate format.
